Background	PDGFRA is a cellsurface receptor tyrosine kinase which binds members of the platelet-derivedgrowth factor family. No special measures were taken to activate this kinase.PDGFRA encodes a cell surface tyrosine kinase receptor for members of theplatelet-derived growth factor family. These growth factors are mitogens forcells of mesenchymal origin. The identity of the growth factor bound to areceptor monomer determines whether the functional receptor is a homodimer ora heterodimer, composed of both platelet-derived growth factor receptor alphaand beta polypeptides.
