Background	Sulfotransferasefamily, cytosolic, 1B, member 1, also known as SULT1B1, is an enzyme that inhumans is encoded by the SULT1B1 gene. SULT1B1 contains a binding site forthe sulfate donor, 3-prime-phosphoadenosine 5-prime-phosphosulfate, and acysteine residue conserved in the ST1 gene family of sulfotransferases.Sulfotransferases such as SULT1B1 catalyze the biotransformation of a largenumber of endogenous compounds such as neurotransmitters, steroids, bileacids, and thyroid hormones, as well as drugs and xenobiotics.
