Background	Serumamyloid A proteins (SAA) represents a family of apolipoproteins thatcirculates in association with high-density lipoproteins (HDL). The level ofapo-SAA, normally 1-5 ug/ml in plasma, increases 5-1 fold within 24hours of an inflammatory stimulus and, under these conditions, is the mostabundant HDL apo-lipoprotein.
