Background	Itga4 isan integrin family adhesion receptor that shares the β1 subunit with elevenother family members and the α4 subunit with Integrin α4β7. The non-covalent heterodimerof 15 kDa α4/CD49d and 13 kDa β1/CD29 type I transmembrane glycoprotein subunitsmediates cell adhesion to VCAM-1/CD16 on other cells and the CS-1 fragmentof fibronectin in the extracellular matrix. The α4 extracellular domain (ECD)contains an N-terminal β-propeller structure, followed by domains termedthigh, calf-1 and calf-2.
